Tamagotchi-Inspired Language Learning

Lexie is a French drill app wrapped around a blob pet. You feed it vocabulary, it reacts to your pronunciation, you learn French without realising you just spent forty minutes doing grammar.

Key Features

  • A blob pet that reacts to how you're doing (hungry, happy, unimpressed)
  • Voice recognition with pronunciation feedback
  • Lessons framed as everyday pet-care moments
  • Works offline after first download

Why Lexie?

I built Lexie after moving to a French-speaking part of Canada and finding Duolingo's streak anxiety tiring. Having a pet that depends on you turns out to be more motivating than a green bird's disappointment.

Common questions

What languages does Lexie support?
French, Spanish, Danish, Scottish Gaelic, plus a few more. Let me know what's missing.
Is Lexie for learning a language from scratch?
No. Lexie is for drilling the bits that don't quite memorise — irregular verbs, numbers, specific conjugations. If you need to learn a language from zero, Duolingo or Babbel is a better starting point; come back to Lexie when you're stuck on the tricky patterns.
Does Lexie work offline?
Yes. After the first download, everything runs locally. Voice recognition, drills, and the blob's reactions all work without a network.
Does it correct my pronunciation?
Yes. Voice recognition catches pronunciation issues across supported languages, and the blob reacts in real time — happy when you nail it, confused when you don't.
