Freelance for mobile developers
Software developers could work remotely and that's really great. However, what are pros and cons of being a freelancer? I started as a python and web developer in 2008, years later I've switched to iOS, and after that to consulting, so this talk is summarising all my experience, from looking for a job to applying for an Estonian e-residency card.
What is this talk about?
The pros and cons of freelancing as a mobile developer, drawn from my own years of it: finding clients, Upwork, taxes, and where an Estonian e-residency card fits in.
How do you choose what to freelance in?
The talk lays out the options - programming, architecture, QA, project management, IT consulting, and UI/UX or product design - and how each one changes the portfolio you need to win work.
What does it cover beyond finding clients?
Building the portfolio that gets you hired (CV, certifications, past projects, hackathons, talks, open source), landing the offer, getting paid across borders, and handling taxes - on the principle that you're a business selling services, not a set of skills.
Where can I watch it?
